For children and young people

There are several ways for children and young people to learn about and worship God at St Alkmund's.

Individuals and organisations mentioned on this page can be contacted via the Church Office 01948 665413 or stalkmundschurch@btconnect.com

Junior Church         For children aged 3 to 10 years

Junior Church is held in term time during the 10.00am service, from 9.55 to the Peace, when children rejoin their parents in church. On the 1st Sunday of each month, children and their parents are encouraged to join in the Worship Together service at 10.00am.

Activities include bible stories, craft, prayers and other activities related to the theme of the bible reading for that Sunday.

The congregation enjoys hearing what the children have been doing, and seeing the material produced

Please contact the Church Office 01948 665413 for more information

Sermon Slot          For young people from 11 years old upwards

Sermon Slot is held during the sermon in the 10.00am service. Teenagers meet to discuss issues from the bible readings, and think about their relevance in everyday life using film, drama, discussion and craft.

The congregation enjoys hearing what they have been discussing, if they feel like sharing it.

No photo – teenagers do not enjoy being photographed!

Other ways in which children and young people can become involved and serve God

Some can sing in the choir, some can be servers, some can help welcome children to church, some can read lessons or lead the prayers at Worship Together Communion Services

Junior Choir

Junior Choir members are part of the church choir at 10.00am services on Sunday, and at weddings. Members are robed, and take a full part in the choral parts of the service, but are encouraged to join Junior Church or Sermon Slot for their meetings

A practice for the Sunday morning choir takes place each Wednesday at 6.15pm in church.

Books, puzzles and busy bags

There is a rack inside the church door holding books, puzzles and bags filled with interesting things for children to play with during the service.

There are also clip boards with pens and pencils, stencils and puzzle sheets
